Against Austerity in Detroit: ‘Water Is a Human Right’

This is sickening. Water is a human right. Detroit has shut off water for 17,000 families in Detroit, and 138,000 are at risk of having their water shut off by a for-profit company. Denying families a human right for an inability to pay — in America’s poorest city during one of our worst recessions, in the face of record spikes in water prices — is unconscionable. I’ll say it again: water is a human right.
